In Bengaluru, a 40-year-old school teacher fell victim to a blackmail scheme orchestrated by a man posing as her former classmate on social media. The accused initially gained her trust by fabricating a story about being terminally ill with cancer, which he used to manipulate her into sharing explicit content. After coercing her, he threatened to distribute the material unless she paid him or agreed to meet. Realizing the exploitation, the teacher reported the matter to the police, who set up a sting operation. The accused was apprehended when he traveled from Puttaparthi to meet her. However, the situation escalated when he attempted self-harm at the police station after his arrest. He is currently in custody as investigations continue. Authorities have advised the public to exercise caution when interacting with strangers online and to report any harassment or extortion attempts immediately.
