The Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) has made significant arrests in Lucknow, targeting illegal activities involving oxytocin smuggling and organized crime. On Monday, the STF apprehended Rehan, a member of an interstate gang, during a raid at the Karimabad underpass. Authorities seized 502 vials of oxytocin injections, two mobile phones, and a motorcycle from him. Rehan confessed to being part of a network distributing the drug illegally in Lucknow and surrounding areas. The STF has sent samples of the seized injections for laboratory testing, noting that the Union Health Ministry restricted oxytocin sales to single-unit blister packs in 2001. In a separate operation, two alleged members of the Barwar gang, Harishchandra and Sohanlal, were arrested near Badshah Nagar railway station. Both have extensive criminal records, with Harishchandra facing 17 cases and Sohanlal 10 cases across various districts. Legal proceedings are ongoing against all arrested individuals.
