Industries operating in the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) estates are urging the state government to resolve long-standing regulatory issues that are impeding their growth. Ajit Shah, president of the Sanand Industries Association, highlighted that Sanand has emerged as a major industrial hub, yet unresolved matters are affecting operations and future expansion. A critical concern is the irregularity of divisional manager/superintendent engineer (DM/SE) committee meetings, which are intended to address grievances in a timely manner. A GIDC circular from July 2015 mandates these meetings occur monthly; however, only four to five have been conducted in the past three years. This lack of regular meetings has left numerous issues pending for extended periods. Additionally, H M Patel, secretary of the Federation of Industries Association, pointed out that disputes over double taxation have persisted for over five years, placing a financial strain on industries. He called for relief from double taxation, as companies are burdened with both GIDC charges and local property taxes. Patel also raised concerns regarding stamp duty demands, which have led to penalties due to administrative errors. The industries are seeking a fair resolution process for these issues to ensure smoother operations.
