This clean-up is part of a collaborative sanitation drive with railway authorities, targeting the 102.9 km of railway tracks in Delhi, where waste had accumulated due to indiscriminate dumping. So far, approximately 49.74 km of tracks have been cleaned, with significant amounts of waste removed from areas like Karol Bagh and Keshavpuram. In Keshavpuram Zone, a notable legacy waste site near Azadpur Railway Station has been transformed into usable open space. To further encourage responsible waste disposal, the MCD has installed 61 twin dustbins along the tracks and is conducting awareness campaigns. MCD commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar emphasized the importance of cleaning railway corridors as they are key entry points into the city and stated that the initiative aims not only to remove waste but also to implement systems to prevent future accumulation.
