The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated a large-scale effort to strengthen its organizational base in Maharashtra by conducting approximately 1,200 training camps known as 'prashikshan shivirs.' Launched on February 20, these camps aim to educate newcomers about the party's core ideology of 'Integral Humanism', a philosophy that offers a holistic alternative to Western capitalism and socialism. With no major elections in the next 3.5 years, the BJP is seizing the opportunity to consolidate its grassroots support and inform its cadre about the party's history and struggles. Currently, the BJP has 1.5 crore enrolled members in Maharashtra, and the party leadership is targeting a 51% vote share in the upcoming 2029 Assembly elections, up from the current 27%. The training sessions also cover historical events such as the 1975-77 Emergency, emphasizing the party's political evolution and the importance of its foundational figures.
