The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and district authorities have successfully demolished 65 illegal structures along the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, responding to rising concerns about road safety. These unauthorized setups, primarily located in Nuh district, posed significant hazards to motorists, particularly due to trucks parking on the main carriageway. Officials have noted that many of these establishments were operating illegally with electricity connections. In an effort to prevent further encroachments, authorities have begun disconnecting power supplies and warned that any reappearing structures will be demolished and materials seized. The NHAI's project director, PK Kaushik, highlighted the direct link between these illegal dhabas (roadside eateries) and increased accident rates. The administration is also coordinating with traffic police and regional transport teams to monitor compliance and has urged drivers to use designated facilities instead of stopping along the expressway.
