Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini directed officials to prepare a drainage system proposal in Fatehabad district, extending to the Rajasthan border, to help farmers utilize rainwater for irrigation. During a review meeting on drainage management, he highlighted the need to address waterlogging in urban areas and proposed new drainage projects. The irrigation department reported that tenders for 250 out of 425 short-term flood protection works have been finalized, with completion expected by the end of the month. In urban local bodies, 1,116 km of drains have been cleaned out of 2,655 km, and the public health department aims to clean 100 km of drains across 85 cities by the end of May. Saini also announced that the building plan approval process would be fully online to enhance transparency and efficiency. He stressed the importance of timely completion of development works, warning against delays and emphasizing quality from contractors.
