On Saturday, the Nashik district administration conducted a workshop focused on women's safety in the workplace, stressing the importance of establishing Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) as mandated by the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act (PoSH). Shobha Pawar, a member of the Juvenile Justice Board, urged companies to set up ICCs and ensure their effective operation, highlighting the need for all employees, including men, to be informed about these committees for registering complaints. The workshop, organized in collaboration with the district women and child welfare department, followed a recent incident at a TCS-linked BPO in Nashik, prompting discussions on the PoSH Act's objectives and implementation. Participants noted that workplace safety is a collective responsibility and suggested awareness drives in small and medium industries. Ashish Nahar, president of the Nashik Industries and Manufacturers Association (NIMA), emphasized the need for regular workshops to enhance safety across industries, while Amar Thakare, president of the Nashik Information Technology Association, recommended educating new employees about the PoSH Act during onboarding.
