During Washington State University's (WSU) second spring scrimmage on April 18, running back Maxwell Woods made a strong impression, scoring a touchdown and showcasing his speed and agility. The Cougars' offense participated in a competitive format called redzone lockout, where they emerged victorious with an 18-8 score against the defense. Woods, alongside fellow running backs Kirby Vorhees and Leo Pulalasi, is expected to form a formidable trio in the upcoming season. Notably, all three quarterbacks—Owen Eshelman, Julian Dugger, and Caden Pinnick—managed to avoid throwing interceptions, a significant improvement from previous practices. The scrimmage allowed the team to assess their performance under live conditions, although several key players were absent, including defensive lineman Kaden Beatty and right guard Noah Dunham. The Cougars will conclude their spring practices with the annual Crimson and Gray game next Saturday in Pullman.
