A local court in Ludhiana, Punjab, India, has granted interim bail to Congress leader Inderjit Singh Indi in connection with a case involving the alleged assault of laborers and obstruction of public duty. The case arose from a complaint by Rupinder Singh, a junior engineer, who accused Indi of threatening workers engaged in road scraping work, thereby disrupting a public utility project. During the hearing, Indi's advocate, Vijay Mahendru, argued that the accusations stemmed from political rivalry and that Indi was willing to cooperate with the investigation. The additional public prosecutor opposed the bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offenses. However, the court noted that most charges in the FIR are bailable, except for one. The court granted bail on the condition that Indi joins the investigation within five days and submits a personal bond of ₹50,000. The next hearing is set for April 22.
