The Pune Zilla Parishad has suspended Govind Haribhau Lakhe, an education extension officer, for allegedly providing misleading information about Jyoti Savitri Zilla Parishad School located in Khanawadi village, Purandar taluka, Maharashtra. The school was recently inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Lakhe's statements, which suggested the school was not properly recognized, created confusion and harmed the district administration's reputation. Pune ZP Chief Executive Officer Gajanan Patil stated that such misinformation defamed the Zilla Parishad in the public domain, prompting the suspension under Rule 3(1) of the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad Service (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1964. During the suspension, Lakhe will be based at Panchayat Samiti, Velha, and is prohibited from leaving without prior approval. He is also barred from engaging in any private employment or business during this period, although he will receive a subsistence allowance. This incident serves as a warning against the circulation of unverified official statements.
