The Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s 2026 Western Spring Sectional is set to occur on Saturday at Carnegie Mellon University, featuring over 600 athletes competing in basketball, track & field, and swimming. Supported by more than 250 volunteers, these athletes will be joined by 200 coaches as they aim to qualify for the Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Summer Games, scheduled for June 6-8 at Penn State University. Carol Voorhees, president and CEO of NJM Insurance Group, expressed pride in sponsoring the event and applauded the athletes' determination and spirit. Special Olympics Pennsylvania provides year-round training and competition in 21 Olympic-type sports to approximately 15,300 individuals with intellectual disabilities or related developmental disabilities.
