Multiple elite Indian javelin throwers, including Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra and Paralympic champion Sumit Antil, have formally accused coach Naval Singh of mental harassment and abusive language, prompting a complaint to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) submitted on April 10. The complaint, supported by emails and audio recordings, details Singh's alleged verbal abuse towards athletes, including derogatory remarks about their families. Antil, who initially raised the issue, expressed frustration over failed mediation attempts by SAI officials, stating that the situation had exceeded his patience. He described Singh's behavior as a pattern of misconduct, particularly during competition periods, and highlighted the fear instilled among athletes due to threats of authority misuse. Neeraj Chopra has echoed these concerns, labeling Singh's comments as disgraceful and calling for strict action. Other athletes, including Sandeep Chaudhary and Navdeep Singh, have also reported similar experiences of unprofessional conduct, emphasizing the need for a safe and respectful environment in sports.
