Operations at the canteen inside the Sports Authority of India (SAI) headquarters in New Delhi have come to a partial halt due to what is being described as an LPG supply issue. However, sources suggest that the disruption may actually stem from pricing disputes with the vendor rather than a genuine shortage of cooking gas. Currently, the canteen is only serving tea, prepared using induction cooktops, as breakfast and evening snacks have been suspended. This change affects approximately 150 employees at the headquarters, forcing them to seek alternative meal arrangements. An official noted that the stoppage began around the time geopolitical tensions in West Asia escalated, hinting at broader supply chain concerns. Despite the disruption at the headquarters canteen, SAI officials confirmed that athletes training at the stadium are unaffected, as meals continue to be provided at the athletes' mess, which remains fully operational. There has also been no reported LPG shortage at SAI's National Centres of Excellence or hostel facilities across the country, where food services are functioning normally. The vendor managing the canteen reportedly took charge only a few months ago, raising further questions about the sudden halt in services.
