Jagdish Vishwakarma, the Gujarat BJP president, condemned the Congress party for its opposition to the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, which aims to reserve one-third of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. Speaking at a public meeting in Vansda taluka, Navsari district, he accused Congress of stalling women's empowerment for years, stating that the millions of women in India would not forgive them. Vishwakarma also targeted Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that his bachelor status prevents him from understanding women's issues. He highlighted the BJP's efforts in tribal areas, including the establishment of five new medical colleges under the Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana, aimed at providing career opportunities for tribal youth. Additionally, he noted that over 700 BJP candidates won uncontested in the recent local body elections, marking a significant rise compared to the last elections in 2021. The 131st Amendment Bill, which received 298 votes in favor and 230 against, ultimately fell short of the two-thirds majority required for passage in the Lok Sabha.
