The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has successfully reclaimed 153 hectares of encroached land valued at nearly ₹2,500 crore over the last two years. This initiative is one of the largest anti-encroachment drives in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, involving a combination of eviction actions and legal measures. Pankaj Srivastava, the additional municipal commissioner overseeing property management, reported that around 30 FIRs have been filed against individuals involved in illegal occupations across various villages, including Mastemau, Sarsawan, and Behsa. The LMC has conducted eviction drives in 340 cases, many of which are currently under judicial review, ensuring accountability in the reclamation process. To prevent future encroachments, the corporation is physically securing vulnerable plots with wire fencing and signboards indicating municipal ownership. Additionally, plantation drives are being initiated on several reclaimed sites to improve air quality and increase the city's green cover.
