The Uttar Pradesh government has finalized a strategy to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply of approximately 34,000 megawatts (MW) during the upcoming summer months. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the Energy Department to prepare for peak demand, which is projected to reach 33,375 MW in June. To meet this demand, around 80% will be supplied through long-term agreements, while the remaining will be sourced from power exchanges like IEX, PXIL, and HPX. New thermal power plants, including major projects in Ghatampur, Khurja, and Panki, have been activated to enhance the state's generation capacity. Additionally, a banking arrangement of 4,663 million units (MU) of electricity with neighboring states will facilitate procurement during high-demand periods. The government is also focusing on strengthening the transmission and distribution network to prevent outages and ensure equal power supply in both rural and urban areas.
