Umer Harris, known as 'Khargosh', a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist group, has fled to Saudi Arabia after escaping India using a forged passport. Initially thought to be from Karachi, it has been revealed that he hails from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Harris joined the LeT to evade multiple arson charges in Karachi and infiltrated Jammu and Kashmir in 2012. He earned his alias due to his ability to evade capture. Investigations by the Srinagar police have uncovered that he married an LeT overground worker's daughter in Jaipur under the alias Sajjad, using the marriage documents to apply for an Indian passport. This case has raised serious concerns regarding systemic loopholes in the passport verification process, particularly as Harris managed to flee to Indonesia before reaching Saudi Arabia. As part of the investigation, five individuals have been arrested, including Abdullah, a Pakistani terrorist who had been on the run for 16 years. The Srinagar police are now working with central intelligence agencies to address these vulnerabilities and seek Harris's deportation from Saudi Arabia.
