A first-year BTech student at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra attempted suicide late on Saturday night, just two days after the suicide of 19-year-old Diksha Dubey. The student, who is from Maharashtra, reportedly expressed feelings of having no purpose in life in a WhatsApp message before attempting to jump from her hostel's fifth floor. Fortunately, fellow students intervened and she was taken to a local hospital, where she is now stable. This incident is part of a troubling trend at NIT Kurukshetra, which has witnessed four student suicides in the past four months. Following Dubey's death, which sparked protests on campus, the administration has ordered all students to vacate hostels by April 19. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing, with police looking into Dubey's actions prior to her death, including a deleted message to a friend. The institute has also replaced key hostel officials in response to these events.
