According to a report from South Korea’s ETNews, production for the iPhone 18 Pro series' variable aperture cameras has officially begun. China's Sunny Optical is in the trial phase for actuator production, which is crucial for the camera's functionality. Meanwhile, LG Innotek is on track to start manufacturing the camera modules between June and July 2024. The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are anticipated to be the first models to incorporate this advanced camera technology. The variable aperture feature is expected to significantly enhance low-light photography and provide users with improved depth of field controls. This development is seen as a major step forward in smartphone camera capabilities, potentially giving Apple a competitive edge over rivals like Samsung, which will continue using older camera technology for its upcoming models.
