On Thursday, the Supreme Court of India granted anticipatory bail to Venu Gopalakrishnan, the owner of a Kochi-based software company, who faces allegations of sexually harassing an employee and attempting to frame her and her husband in a criminal case. A bench comprising Justices BV Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan directed Gopalakrishnan to fully cooperate with the investigation. The court set aside a previous order from the Kerala High Court, which had denied bail on September 11, 2025. The Supreme Court mandated that if Gopalakrishnan is arrested, he must be released on bail upon providing โน1 lakh (approximately $1,200 USD) in cash security and two sureties. The court also warned against misuse of this liberty, stating that any violation could lead to cancellation of bail. The case dates back to July, when the victim and her husband were arrested under allegations of attempting to honey-trap Gopalakrishnan. Following their release on bail, the victim claimed she was falsely implicated, prompting the court to order a police investigation. This led to a new case being filed against Gopalakrishnan and three of his employees on charges including sexual harassment and criminal intimidation.
