The Dalit Aesthetics Art Show 2026, titled ‘The Whole Story’, is currently taking place at the Lalit Kala Akademi in Chennai, showcasing the works of 36 artists from across India. Organized by the Neelam Art Collective, founded by filmmaker Pa Ranjith, the exhibition is part of the annual Vaanam Festival, which focuses on social justice, identity, and creative expression. This year's show honors Savindra Sawarkar, a key figure in Dalit art history. The exhibition is divided into two sections: one highlighting the everyday struggles and resistance of Dalits, and the other celebrating their contributions to society. Notable works include installations that address the invisibility of Dalit women's struggles and a gallery dedicated to B.R. Ambedkar. The exhibition runs until April 18, coinciding with Ambedkar's birth month, which is also observed as Dalit history month.
