The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a 15-day Water Conservation Campaign (Jal Pakhwada) aimed at educating students about the importance of saving water. Running from April 16 to 30, 2023, this initiative will be implemented in all schools and educational institutions across the state. The campaign seeks to transform water conservation into a collective responsibility through active public participation, starting with school students. Schools will serve as hubs for various activities, including workshops organized in collaboration with the Jal Nigam (Water Corporation), the Panchayati Raj Department, and the Basic Education Department.

A key aspect of the campaign is the daily 'Water Pledge' taken during school assemblies, designed to instill a sense of accountability among students. Schools will also engage in competitions such as essay writing, debates, and quizzes to foster creativity and awareness about water conservation. Additionally, a special drive will focus on cleaning drinking water sources and testing water quality, ensuring that necessary purification measures are in place. This comprehensive approach aims to reach not only students but also their families, thereby promoting a broader societal commitment to water conservation.
