The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to launch the online application process for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) for June 2026 on its official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Last year, the registration opened on April 16. The UGC NET is conducted twice a year, in June and December, to assess candidates for the Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professor positions, and admission to PhD programs in universities and colleges across India. Candidates applying for the exam must have at least 55% marks in their master's degree or equivalent, with a relaxation to 50% for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, PwBD, and third gender categories. Those currently pursuing their master's or awaiting results are also eligible. Provisional admission will be granted to candidates still completing their degrees, but they must secure the required marks within two years of the NET result to maintain eligibility.
