During the Unnat Krishi Mela, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged for additional reforms in India's agriculture sector, which he described as the backbone of the economy. Singh highlighted various government initiatives, such as the PM-Kisan scheme and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, aimed at boosting farmers' incomes and productivity. He also noted that the defence ministry is now sourcing organic vegetables and fruits directly from farmers, enhancing freshness and providing better prices for agricultural produce. Singh encouraged youth participation in agriculture, asserting that modern technology like drones and sensors can make farming more efficient and appealing. He emphasized the government's commitment to supporting farmers and enhancing their dignity. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh's Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced plans for an agri roadmap tailored to the state's agro-climatic conditions, aiming to elevate farm income and productivity.
