India, which imports over 85% of its crude oil, primarily from the Gulf region, is in discussions with various countries to ensure the safety of its shipping routes. In a related development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump, where they addressed the West Asia conflict and the necessity to keep the Strait of Hormuz open. The Additional Secretary of the Ports, Shipping and Waterways Ministry, Mukesh Mangal, assured that all Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf are safe and that operations at Indian ports remain normal.
