In Chennai, a 17-year-old boy was arrested for assaulting Pooma Sri, a 28-year-old traffic constable, during a traffic violation stop at Vyasarpadi Market Junction. The incident occurred on Thursday evening when the constable intercepted a scooter that was being driven in the wrong direction and lacked a number plate. An argument ensued, leading to the teenager pushing the constable to the ground, injuring her hand. Pooma received medical treatment at Govt Stanley Hospital and subsequently filed a complaint at the Vyasarpadi police station. Following her report, the teenager was apprehended and brought before the Juvenile Justice Board, which ordered his admission to a correctional facility. Notably, the accused has a prior involvement in a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
