Drew Scharnowski, a former forward for Belmont University, has committed to Duke University, announcing his decision on April 19 via social media. The 6-foot-9 redshirt sophomore from Burlington, Illinois was a standout defender for the Bruins during the 2025-26 season, averaging 10.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 68.3% from the field. He played a crucial role in helping Belmont secure the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season championship with a 26-6 overall record. Scharnowski started in 24 of the Bruins' 32 games, achieving double-digit scoring in 17 contests and posting four double-doubles. His transfer marks him as the third player to leave Belmont following the recent season, joining Tyler Lundblade, who moved to the University of Tennessee, and Brigham Rogers, who transferred to Murray State. The Bruins have also welcomed Ethan Sage, a wing player transferring from the University of Pittsburgh. This transition comes as Evan Bradds, a former Duke assistant coach, was appointed as Belmont's head coach on March 19.
