Nivesh Kumar, a 21-year-old associated with the Deepak Nandal gang, was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police in Gurugram after he shot at the police during an attempted arrest. The incident occurred outside a fashion designer's office in Sector 26A, where Kumar was allegedly sent to intimidate the designer into paying extortion money. The police had set a trap after being informed of his plans. During the confrontation, Kumar fired at the STF team, injuring a sub-inspector who was wearing a bullet-proof vest. In response, the STF shot back, injuring Kumar in the leg. He was subsequently apprehended and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities recovered a country-made pistol, cartridges, and the motorcycle used by Kumar. An FIR has been filed against him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Deepak Nandal, the gang leader, is believed to be hiding abroad while continuing his extortion operations across Gurugram, Delhi, and parts of Haryana and Rajasthan.
