The Public Works Department (PWD) in New Delhi is moving forward with plans to alleviate traffic congestion by constructing three new flyovers and underpasses across key corridors in south and north Delhi. This initiative will cover approximately 34 kilometers, focusing on four major stretches: Mehrauli-Mahipalpur Road, Kanti Nagar bridge to Telco T-point, Bawana Road, and a proposed stretch between Kanjhawala Chowk and Mangolpuri on the Outer Ring Road. PWD Minister Parvesh Verma emphasized the importance of understanding the causes of congestion to implement effective solutions. The estimated cost for consultancy services to conduct feasibility studies is ₹7.30 crore (roughly $880,000 USD). The studies will include traffic surveys, topographical mapping, and environmental assessments, with results expected within four to five months. Verma has directed officials to ensure that the design work adheres to Indian Roads Congress standards, aiming for timely completion of the project.
