On Saturday, a tragic industrial accident claimed the life of 29-year-old Tika Ram at the Sunvet Health Care Company in Shambhuwala village, Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, India. Tika Ram was killed when the cables of a lift allegedly snapped while he was outside the lift, preparing to receive heavy PVC bundles. Labourers protested, claiming that the factory management had ignored multiple complaints regarding the lift's malfunctioning, which had been making a 'ticking' sound for days. Despite these warnings, management allowed the lift to be loaded with approximately 150 bundles of heavy goods. Following the incident, Yogesh Rolta, Additional Superintendent of Police for Sirmaur, confirmed that a case of death by negligence has been filed against the factory management, and an investigation is ongoing. The body of Tika Ram has been handed over to his family after a post-mortem examination.
