In a decisive move to combat illegal activities, the Morena administration in Madhya Pradesh has banned sand mining and transportation from the Chambal River, as well as the sale of fuel to unregistered vehicles. This action comes just two days after the Supreme Court criticized the state government for failing to control rampant illegal mining, which has been linked to serious crimes, including the killing of a forest guard. The ban was announced during a task force meeting led by Kamlesh Kumar Bhargav, the in-charge collector, and is effective immediately. To enforce the ban, personnel from the Madhya Pradesh Special Armed Force have been deployed at strategic locations, including Rajghat and Bhanu, ensuring continuous monitoring. Vehicles involved in illegal activities will be seized, and operators of petrol pumps supplying fuel to unregistered vehicles will face legal consequences. The Supreme Court's recent comments highlight the severity of the situation, indicating that either the government has failed to act or is complicit in these illegal activities. The order will remain in effect from April 15 to June 14.
