On April 6, 2026, the Indian Army unveiled the ‘Indian Army’s Technology Roadmap for Unmanned Aerial Systems and Loitering Munitions’ at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This nearly 50-page document serves as a strategic guide for developing advanced drone technologies, fostering a resilient domestic ecosystem. It details 30 types of unmanned aerial systems and loitering munitions, resulting in at least 80 variants organized into five core categories: surveillance, loitering munitions, air defense, special roles, and logistics.
