M K Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), confidently predicts that his party-led alliance will secure over 200 seats in the upcoming assembly elections scheduled for April 23. In a recent interview, he criticized the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) for lacking ideology and being overly influenced by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which he claims operates as its headquarters. Stalin highlighted various welfare initiatives implemented by his government, such as the Kalaignar Women's Entitlement Scheme, which provides ₹1,000 per month to women, and free bus travel for women and school children. He also emphasized the DMK's achievements in improving women's safety, stating that Tamil Nadu is the safest state for women in India. Furthermore, he addressed ongoing seat-sharing discussions with the Indian National Congress for future elections, asserting that the alliance remains strong and united. Stalin's remarks reflect a broader strategy to position the DMK as a champion of Tamil rights and welfare against the AIADMK's perceived subservience to Delhi.
