The Haryana government has revised its 2013 affordable housing policy, mandating that developers must provide one car-parking space for each flat in new housing projects. This decision comes in response to numerous complaints from homebuyers about parking shortages in high-density residential areas. The cost for parking will be set at 10% of the apartment's price. According to the amendment signed by Anurag Agarwal, the additional chief secretary of the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), each dwelling unit must be allocated one Equivalent Car Space (ECS). Available parking can be designated for visitors or two-wheelers. For projects already licensed, builders must obtain consent from at least two-thirds of allottees to implement this rule. Projects that have received an Occupation Certificate (OC) are exempt from this requirement. Additionally, the state government has revised maximum allotment rates based on carpet area, with Gurugram's rate fixed at ₹5,575 per square foot (PSF), while rates in Sohna and Faridabad are set at ₹5,450 PSF. The cost for a 600 BHK affordable flat in Gurugram is estimated to be around ₹35 to ₹36 lakh, with parking costs ranging from ₹3.5 to ₹3.6 lakh.
