The Election Commission of India is fully prepared to conduct the Assam Legislative Assembly elections on April 9, 2026, across all 126 constituencies. With extensive security measures, voter education campaigns, and facilities for voters, the EC aims to ensure a peaceful electoral process for over 25 million eligible voters.

The Election Commission of India (EC) has announced its readiness to conduct the Assam Legislative Assembly elections on April 9, 2026, in a free, fair, and peaceful manner. Voting will take place across 126 constituencies, with 1,51,132 polling personnel deployed to oversee the process. To ensure security, Central Armed Police Forces, including CRPF personnel, will be present at polling stations. The EC has implemented extensive monitoring measures, including webcasting at all 31,490 polling stations, allowing real-time oversight from election offices. Additionally, the EC has launched awareness campaigns under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program to encourage voter turnout. Facilities such as drinking water, waiting areas, and provisions for persons with disabilities have been arranged at polling stations. A total of 722 candidates will contest for the votes of 2,50,54,463 electors, which includes 1,25,31,552 male voters, 1,25,22,593 female voters, and 318 voters in the transgender category. Furthermore, postal ballot voting is available for senior citizens aged 85 and above, with 26,032 having already utilized this option. The Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, Anurag Goel, has urged all stakeholders to cooperate in facilitating the electoral process.
