The Election Commission of India has officially announced the candidates for the Kovalam Assembly Constituency in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala, ahead of the 2026 elections. The candidates include Kattachalkuzhi M.Sugathan from the Socialist Party of Revolutionary (SORP), T.N.Suresh from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Adv. M.Vincent from the Indian National Congress (INC), and several independent candidates. Kovalam is classified as a General category seat and has a total of 1,99,738 registered voters, comprising 97,640 men and 1,02,096 women. Notably, 11.62% of the constituency's population belongs to Scheduled Castes, and the literacy rate stands at 92.66% according to the 2011 Census. The elections will take place in a single phase on April 9, 2026, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4, 2026. In the previous election held in 2021, Adv M. Vincent of INC emerged victorious, defeating Neelalohithadasan Nadar of the Janata Dal (Secular) by a margin of 11,562 votes.
