India's equity indices experienced a significant rebound on Friday, breaking a six-week losing streak. The NSE Nifty closed at 24,050.60, gaining 1.2% or 275.50 points, while the BSE Sensex rose to 77,550.25, also up 1.2% or 918.60 points. This recovery was largely fueled by optimism surrounding ceasefire talks between the US and Iran, which helped restore investor confidence. Over the week, the market capitalization of all BSE-listed companies increased by ₹30.1 lakh crore, partially offsetting the ₹41.36 lakh crore loss incurred since the onset of the West Asia conflict on February 28. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) turned net buyers for the first time since the conflict began, purchasing shares worth ₹672 crore on Friday. The Volatility Index (VIX), a measure of market fear, dropped 7.8% to 18.9, reflecting eased risk expectations among traders. Analysts predict that the Nifty could continue its upward trajectory, aiming for levels around 24,500 and 25,000 in the near future, as most negative news has already been priced in.
