Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni is likely to miss the first two weeks of IPL 2026 due to an ongoing injury recovery. As of now, he has only participated in limited training, facing throwdowns from the coaching staff, including batting coach Mike Hussey. During a recent training session at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, Dhoni showed glimpses of his batting prowess but did not keep wicket. CSK has played four matches without him and may also be without him for their fifth match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Head coach Stephen Fleming noted that Dhoni remains heavily involved with the team, maintaining a strong influence despite not being on the field. In Dhoni's absence, wicketkeeping duties have been taken over by Sanju Samson, who was traded from Rajasthan Royals. Additionally, CSK is preparing for the arrival of Spencer Johnson, who will replace injured Nathan Ellis, although his role this season remains uncertain.
