On Monday, the Dindori police in Maharashtra, India, sought clarification from the local civic body regarding the ownership of a well where a tragic accident occurred, resulting in the deaths of nine family members, including six children from Indore village. The incident took place when their multi-utility vehicle (MUV) plunged into the well on Friday night. Initially, Rajendra Raje was identified as the owner, prompting the police to file a First Information Report (FIR) against him. However, Nashik rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Balasaheb Patil stated that during the investigation, it was revealed that Raje may have transferred ownership of the well to the local Nagar Panchayat a few years ago. The local police have formally requested the civic body to clarify the current ownership status, as their subsequent actions will depend on the information received. The chief officer of the civic body, Sandeep Chaudhari, could not be reached for comment, but sources indicated that confirmation of ownership would require documentation from the town planning department.
