Odisha has set an ambitious target to increase its steel production capacity to 100 million tonnes by 2030. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a high-level meeting with industry leaders and mining stakeholders, urging them to create a clear roadmap for the sector's expansion. He emphasized the importance of ramping up iron ore production to meet the growing demand driven by rapid industrialization in the state and across India. Majhi assured full government support, including necessary clearances and policy backing, to facilitate higher production and seamless dispatch of iron ore. He highlighted the need for investments in mineral-rich districts to boost local employment and accelerate regional development. To streamline industrial expansion, the state is creating a comprehensive database of land for compensatory afforestation and has drawn up an annual auction calendar for 2026-27 to expedite mining block allocation. Industry leaders, including Naveen Jindal, praised the state's proactive approach and transparency in its mining policies, which are considered among the best in the country.
