The newly inaugurated Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is set to revolutionize travel between the two cities with a 30-km toll-free stretch starting from Akshardham. This expressway, spanning 213 km, incorporates a fully automated tolling system that eliminates traditional toll booths, allowing vehicles to pass without stopping. The initial toll point serves only as an entry checkpoint, recording vehicle data without charging fees. Once operational, the expressway will cut travel time from over six hours to approximately 2.5 hours, significantly improving connectivity between Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The project, built at a cost of over ₹12,000 crore (roughly $1.45 billion USD), includes advanced infrastructure features such as 10 interchanges and a 12-km elevated wildlife corridor, addressing ecological concerns while enhancing safety. This expressway is not only a vital transportation route but also a catalyst for regional economic growth, tourism, and trade.
