Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami virtually inaugurated the 25th All India Police Water Sports Championship at the Water Sports and Adventure Institute. The championship features over 440 athletes from 19 teams competing in canoeing, rowing, and kayaking. Dhami welcomed participants and highlighted the significance of this event, which is being hosted in Uttarakhand for the first time. He expressed gratitude to the All India Police Sports Control Board for selecting the state and emphasized that such national-level events provide a platform for athletes to showcase their skills. The Chief Minister noted that promoting adventure sports can enhance tourism, particularly in areas like Tehri, which is becoming a hub for outdoor activities. He also discussed the importance of physical fitness for police personnel and the practical relevance of water sports training in disaster response scenarios. Dhami referenced broader initiatives like the ‘Khelo India’ and ‘Fit India’ campaigns aimed at fostering a sports culture in the country.
