Thomas, a skilled point guard, averaged 15.3 points and 6.5 assists during his time at LSU, despite being limited to 16 games due to a hand injury. Prior to that, he played at UNLV, where he averaged 14.5 points and shot nearly 36% from beyond the arc. Gillespie, known for his rebounding prowess, earned first-team All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) honors this past season, averaging 17.7 points and 11.3 rebounds, ranking fourth nationally in rebounding. The Cougars are coming off a strong season, having achieved a top-two seed in the NCAA tournament for the fifth time in six years. However, they are expected to lose four starters, making the addition of Thomas and Gillespie crucial for maintaining their competitive edge as they aim for a sixth straight 30-win season.
