Arun Dhumal, the Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to expedite the inclusion of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the senior men's cricket team. Sooryavanshi recently showcased his talent by scoring 78 runs off just 26 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, earning him the IPL 2026 Orange Cap. Dhumal expressed his belief on social media that Sooryavanshi deserves to debut for India as the youngest-ever player due to his exceptional performances. In contrast, former Indian captain Anil Kumble has advised caution, suggesting that the young player's development should not be rushed. Kumble acknowledged Sooryavanshi's talent but highlighted the potential pressure of high expectations on young athletes, drawing parallels to Sachin Tendulkar, who debuted at a young age with remarkable consistency. Kumble stated, “At this point in time, it's a bit of pressure on a young lad to say, 'I want you to play for India in two months' time.'”
