Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi addressed the issue of unemployment among educated youth in Kerala during her visit to Peravoor. She noted that many young, qualified individuals are compelled to seek employment outside the state, despite their hard work and education. Gandhi, who represents Wayanad, expressed her understanding of the struggles faced by the people of Kerala. The Keralam Legislative Assembly elections are set for April 9, 2026, with counting on May 4. The current Assembly, governed by the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF), will conclude its term on May 23, 2026. The LDF has maintained power for a decade, winning 99 seats in the previous elections, while the United Democratic Front (UDF) secured 41 seats. The upcoming elections will be a critical test for the UDF, particularly in light of the leadership of Ramesh Chennithala and the performance of the Indian Union Muslim League.
