Steel Authority of India (SAIL) experienced a 1.38% decline in share price, settling at ₹153.80, following the resignation of its chairman and Managing Director, Amarendu Prakash, effective April 1, 2026. The resignation was approved by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, and Prakash has also stepped down from the SAIL Board. In his absence, Krishna Kumar Singh, currently the Director (Personnel) at SAIL, has been appointed as the interim chairman and managing director for a period of three months, until a permanent replacement is found. This leadership change adheres to the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations 2015, which mandates timely disclosure of such changes. Despite the leadership transition, SAIL reported a significant 189.2% increase in consolidated net profit, reaching ₹374.03 crore, alongside an 11.8% rise in revenue from operations, totaling ₹27,371.42 crore for the third quarter of FY26 compared to the same quarter in the previous fiscal year.
