The Haryana chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has formally requested the state government to address the pending dues owed to private hospitals empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, amounting to approximately ₹400 crore (roughly $48 million USD). The IMA highlighted that payments, which are supposed to be processed within 15 days of filing, have been delayed for months, with some claims dating back to September 2025 still unresolved. This financial strain has led to concerns that hospitals may not be able to continue offering services under the scheme after April 20, 2025. Additionally, the IMA pointed out that regulatory measures regarding grievance committees, which should include IMA representation, have not been implemented, hindering the approval of new specialties and empanelments. In a recent online meeting, empanelled hospitals expressed their intent to submit surrender letters if the situation does not improve, echoing a similar incident last year when treatment under the scheme was briefly suspended due to delayed payments.
