In response to recent protests in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a temporary wage increase for workers effective from April 1, 2026. Workers in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad will benefit from the highest wage hike of 21%, raising monthly earnings for unskilled laborers to ₹13,690, semi-skilled workers to ₹15,059, and skilled workers to ₹16,868. Other municipal corporation areas will see a 15% increase, with unskilled workers earning ₹13,006, semi-skilled workers ₹14,306, and skilled workers ₹16,025. For the remaining districts, a 10% hike will be implemented, bringing monthly salaries to ₹12,356 for unskilled, ₹13,591 for semi-skilled, and ₹15,224 for skilled workers. This wage adjustment comes as a response to the current prevailing rates, which are set at ₹11,313 for unskilled, ₹12,445 for semi-skilled, and ₹13,940 for skilled workers across the state.
