In a tragic incident on Wednesday night, three women lost their lives, and 16 others were injured when a tractor-trolley carrying devotees overturned and plunged into a 30-feet-deep canal in Kushinagar district, Uttar Pradesh, India. The devotees were en route from Mamkhor Barhara village in Maharajganj district to Bhainsa Ghat on the Narayani river for a holy dip during the Chaitra Navami festival. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred around 8 PM when the hook connecting the tractor and trolley snapped, causing the vehicle to lose balance and fall into the Gandak Canal. The deceased have been identified as Vimla Devi (45), Meera Devi (57), and Srimati Devi (51), who succumbed to their injuries at Kushinagar Medical College. Among the injured, 12 were referred for advanced treatment, with two reported in critical condition. Local authorities have initiated a rescue operation and an inquiry to determine the precise cause of the accident.
